Every lunchtime is the same. Why not change it up a bit and utilize that time to practice self-care? Today, I’ll be sharing 10 tips to help make that happen!
I know how it is to have to work a 9-5 job! Especially for all the momma’s out there reading this. Mom-life is an on-going job and we all know it’s not easy to make time for our self-care. Not only that but it’s a struggle to have to stay on top of the house chores, let alone make quality time with your spouse.
We all have at least an hour for lunch. That hour is enough time to do some self-pampering! So let’s get right into this post!
P.S: If your job is in a location with nearby stores, some of these ideas apply to you!
10 ways to practice self-care during your lunch break
Visit a Nail Salon
If you let them know you have one hour to get your nails done, they should be able to see you in a timely matter. Getting just a basic gel polish done and shaping up the nails typically last for 30-40 minutes with no waiting.
Get a haircut
Nothing says self-care than changing up your hair! I love cutting my hair, depending on the season and to keep my ends healthy. Haircuts are great for a quick change-up! It doesn’t take longer than an hour if you schedule an appointment and if it’s a nearby salon.
Go to the gym
If there is a gym nearby, opt-in membership and workout for 35 minutes. It gives you 5 minutes to change into your workout clothes. 5 minutes to change back to your work clothes and 10 minutes to get back to work/settle back in and 5 minutes to spare to eat a quick meal.
Take a nap
I know a few people who would go to their car and just nap. Especially if you didn’t get enough rest from the previous night or if you had a ROUGH morning. Short naps can help lower tension and help to boost your mood. Take no more than a 20-minute nap and make sure to SET your alarm. You will wake up feeling energized and ready to perform better than before.
Go shopping
If you work nearby stores, definitely use it to your advantage! Buy something for YOURSELF! Don’t get tempted to buy for your kids or buy for other people. Trust me, I am guilty of this. But splurging on yourself reminds yourself that you deserve something that you can call yours.
Read a book
This one is for all my bookworms out there. I love self-help/inspiring books that teach me something new and add some positivity to my day. It’s the perfect escape from reality!
Listen to Podcast
I always Bluetooth this to my car and listen to the podcast to help boost my mood and inspire me. I know a few people who listen to it in the lunchroom while they eat. Just a thought.
Watch a series on your phone
I love watching a series during my lunch break. I have my alone time and I am completely engaged with an episode I am currently obsessing over. I am also able to eat at the same time.
Have lunch with a friend
Normally when people think of self-care, they think that it doesn’t involve another person. To be able to vent and have support from a friend is essential to your self-care. In my case, I don’t always have time to spend time with my girlfriends. So utilizing my lunch hour to catch up with the girls is refreshing!
Engage with other hobbies
This topic could be about anything you enjoy doing.
This allows your mind to take a break from the stress and mental strain that you may be going through. Especially from work.
I always bring my laptop/Journal on-the-go. I’ll actually grab lunch and just blog.
There you have it. Adding some self-care in your 1 hour lunch period is necessary. Sometimes you just need ideas to run with. I hope you have found this post helpful. Feel free to share it with others!
