Beauty blenders. They come in so many different sides and shapes. With each unique design, you can create such an effortlessly flawless finish! I have had a lady asked me one time, what are beauty blenders? I realized that not a lot of people know what a beauty blender is and how exactly do we use it. That question inspired my post today and I am happy I can share with you the ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW about beauty blenders.
What kinds of Beauty Blenders are there?
- Microfiber Velvet Sponge: The first anti-microbial microfiber material that I’ve ever come across. One thing I absolutely love about using the microfiber sponges is that it holds onto any liquid product. Such a game-changer in my book!
- Mini beauty sponge: Mini sponges? I was shocked when I saw these for the first time. I mean, a mini sponge? What was I going to use it for? After doing some research, I made the investment to try it out myself. Now, it’s my holy grail! It’s perfect for the “hard to reach” areas, such as the corners of your eyes and your nose. I use it for applying concealer and translucent powder to set the under eyes and around my nose.
- 3DHD Beauty Blender: Yes, a 3D beauty blender! “It’s designed to prime, conceal, sculpt and highlight with any formula for flawless skin.“ – Sigma Beauty
- A powder absorbent sponge: Real Techniquest just came out with this past 2018-2019 time-frame. It’s definitely not necessary since the other original real techniques sponge does the job on picking up powder, but I do like the way this quickly picks up powder and blends really well. “Revolutionary foam technology paired with proprietary velvety material for maximum pickup evenly blended powder” – Real Techniques
- Oblong Silicone Makeup Blenders // The non-porous texture allows you to not waste your beauty products because the sponge won’t absorb it. Its slick surface also makes it quick and easy to clean without any drying team
Do beauty blenders need to be wet or dry?
Think of it like this, your sponge without water is dehydrated. Once you wet your sponge, the damp sponge will transfer your foundation smoothly and seamlessly to the skin. The best way to use a beauty blender is when it is activated and damp.
5 ways to apply beauty blenders
- You can use the BB to apply translucent powder. The great thing about using a damp sponge with powder is that you can really control where you’re applying it. You let the powder sit for 1-2 minutes (baking process) then grab one of your fan brushes and brush the powder off.
- Spray your SETTING spray on your damp sponge then apply to bare/clean face. The results are way more long-lasting!
- BB are the perfect beauty tool too contour with. Cream concealers and bronzers are best applies with BB.
- Use the light-colored beauty sponge: I find that the light color BB is perfect for applying moisturizers. It works the same as applying foundation, seamlessly and effortlessly. Give it a try!
- You can use the precision tip along with concealer or foundation to covers blemishes/imperfection.
