FYI: This post isn’t based on how to start a blog. This post focuses on how to balance work-life, motherhood, and blogging. Enjoy!
First of all, let me praise you mommas out there that are doing it big. Blogging is such hard work along with being a mother and working full time/part-time. You are literally a super mom!
Sometimes, you have to remind yourself that it’s okay to take a break. Blogging can sometimes be draining. I know. I go through spurts where I have writer’s block and sometimes I go through the motions of having a hard time balancing everything out such as life, priorities, and then there’s blogging.
Blogging is my hobby. I love everything there is about running a website and blogging on subjects I’m passionate about. To be honest, I struggle with balancing everything out just like you. That is why I have developed a plan to help me balance everything out. Hopefully, you can benefit from these tips. So let’s get right into it.
The 5 ways to balance your life, being a mom and blogging
- Self-Reflect: Where do you see yourself in 5 years? What are you wanting out of blogging and why? Ask yourself realistic questions and answer them open-heartedly. I honestly spend a lot of time journaling and writing out my thoughts on paper. It helps to look back and remind yourself why you started your blog in the first place.
- Create a routine: I know. This is obvious. A routine will help you see what works in your day shift and what doesn’t. I own a happy planner and I just love setting it up and making it look pretty. A planner helps me feel organized in my life. It’s so frustrating not knowing my schedule. With a planner, look at your schedule and figure out where the gaps are where you can fit at least one hour to blog. One hour is enough to get a post out or to brainstorm a few! See my post here on what planners will help you stay organized!
- Schedule out your post: If I know I have like 2 hours to spare, I use that time to plan out my monthly Instagram feed and schedule my days on where I will post my content on my website using apps. Trello, WordPress, planoly, tailwind, and canva is my favorite business apps I own. I utilize any of my free time (lunch-time or time I have gaps in my schedule) to draft a new post, use trello to come up with my ideas on what I should post, create pins through canva, and schedule my Instagram/Pinterest feed through the planoly and tailwind app. I’ll make sure to dedicate a full post on these apps to help boost your traffic on your website soon! Stay tuned for that. Overall, scheduling ahead of time helps you go to sleep knowing you’re still doing your job with blogging. You can sleep at night knowing there is still traffic coming to your page and your Instagram followers can see your latest post while you are spending time with your family.
- Create a monthly goal: Goals help to drive you! It keeps you motivated and most of all, it helps you stay grounded with yourself. My monthly goal is to have 1000+ traffic a month. I also push myself to have at least one post done a week and posted by Saturday night. Just make sure they are realistic goals!
- Find the time you are the most productive: I don’t know about you but I utilize my time while the children are asleep or in school. I even wake up earlier than 6 am so that I have my me time to wake up and have a cup of coffee. My advice is to use the times you are the most active to crank out all your daily duties from the most important ones to the least.
