Let’s get deep and personal here and let me ask you;
Who would you be if you dropped your excuses? Some of us fail to stay consistent in keeping up with our goal, while others are determined to not give up. But how do we stay consistent without feeling burnt out and unmotivated? It‘s all about the mindset! No matter what GOAL you may have, you have to be consistent to achieve it. This is why I put together 7 ways to keep you on track on reaching your goals.7 ways to stay motivated on reaching your goals
1) Hold yourself accountable
Here are my 4 ways of how to hold yourself accountable!
- Educate yourself //Why do you want to do it? Realistically, how long will it take to reach your goal? What skill set are you going to use to achieve this? Knowing the background of your goal is a good way to start mapping out in your head on ways you’re going to achieve it.
- Be in the right mindset //You have to want it BAD enough. There’s no way you’re going to be able to achieve your goal if you keep making up excuses. Enough with the what-ifs and the cants and just DO it. Use your HUNGER as your drive. Once you achieve that, that’s when we can get past the excuses.
- Make the habit a priority // Now we all deserve a little free time to have some fun. But always remember, if you are not consistent and you don’t make your goals a priority, it’s unlikely you will succeed. It takes one time to break the habit and then you are completely off your game going forward. Having self-control will play a huge part in getting what you want in life. For example; If you’re trying to lose weight, say NO to the temptations of sugars and fat. Trust me, my work always brings in donuts and desserts. I just avoid the breakroom all together. It takes a lot to control those cravings too! But, my goal is to lose 20 lbs in 3 months. I have to stay grounded.
- Have an accountability buddy // Hence, the photo above. Having someone with similar interests really helps to motivate you and keep you locked into your goal. Sometimes, doing things alone can feel a little lonely. Some positive reinforcements can truly make a difference in your daily activities and making it that more fun to achieve BOTH of your goals.
2) Eliminate those that don’t help your EVOLVE
Be honest to yourself, what’s weighing you down? Is it the people you surround yourself with? Is it the people that you follow on social media? Are YOU weighing yourself down? It’s clear that if you surround yourself with negative energies, of course, negative outcomes will evolve from that situation. Don’t limit yourself with people who DON’T support you. It’s not fair to yourself and your future. You can choose now to let go of that bad energy and watch your life bloom from there.
3) Surround yourself with positive support
Going back to the last thing I was saying, you have to choose wisely on who you surround yourself with. You can’t move forward if you have certain people holding you back. You definitely can’t move forward if YOU keep holding yourself back. It’s time to not just “unfollow” on social media, but also in real life. It’s okay to cut-ties. The only person you may be hurting is them but at the end of the day, it was you that needed some clarity to move towards a better future.
4) Set a schedule reminder
If you’re not in control of your time, you’re not in control of your success. Here are several ways you can utilize on setting your goal reminders.
Bullet Journal
I am a huge advocate on using a journal to maintain habit tracking and goals. It’s fun to journal and release any on-the-surface stress you have been dealing with. But the most important part about journaling is habit-tracking. To track your water intake, daily workouts, etc.
Utilizing your Apps/Watches
Nowadays you can set reminders and track your goals on your watch and as well on apps.
Get a Planner
Block off realistic amounts of time for each task. If you’re uncertain how long a task will take, give yourself extra time to complete it. Don’t forget to plan in breaks as well!
5) Say your Affirmations aloud
Print/write affirmations that resonate with you and put it wherever you know you will see it. Read it, Pray on it, and say it aloud. Affirmations are what motivates us to keep pushing through. Plus, don’t they make you smile?
6) Listen to PodCast
My favorites;
1. Style Your Mind By Cara Alwill
2. Being Boss By Kathleen Shannon & Emily Thompson
3. The Goal Digger by Jenna Kutcher
Podcast is everything right now! I used to turn up the music and jam out on my way to work but now I switched to listening to podcast every morning. The perfect way to set the mood for the day!
7) Trust the process
Trust your journey!! You can’t expect results to happen overnight. Stay focused and the results will handle themselves. Trust the uncertainty. Remember, growth is a process! You may not be exactly where you want to be, but you are ONE day closer.
