Hello warmer seasons, Summer is finally here!
You can find me at the beach almost every weekend, soaking up the sun and enjoying the peaceful sound of the waves crashing into the shore. During the warmer seasons I am all about protecting my skin from the sun damage and from constant breakouts from being outdoors in the heat. You and I both know that it’s super important to take care of your skin to decrease our risk of skin cancer. More additional information can be found here for more ways to protect yourself from harmful UV rays. But with that begin said, I have included all of my go-to items that protect my skin from dry, irritated, harmful uv rays, etc!
Today, I am so excited to be sharing all of my favorite summer essentials. From makeup to skincare, I have gathered a wide variety of all beauty essentials that you’ll need to get you through the summer.
Summer Beauty Essentials
Sunscreen & After sun care: Sunscreen in the summertime, prices are bound to be on the more expensive side but we all know that both items are a necessity throughout summer. I personally enjoy the SunBum brand for sunscreen/after sun care. I typically burn pretty bad on my shoulder blades and if I am out in the sun for 6-7 hours (waterpark/amusement) this sunscreen has been the only one worth the buy to prevent any unwanted burns. It’s also loaded with vitamins. Here are the two I recommend;
1// Sun Bum Sunscreen SPF 50 // $16
“It provides more than 50 times your natural protection from the sun. This moisturizing sunscreen formula will protect your skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays while enriching your skin with vitamin E, an antioxidant that helps to neutralize free radicals (which are the main cause of premature skin aging).”
2// Sun Bum Cool Down hydrating after sun gel // $10
“Sun Bum’s Premium Moisturizing After Sun Gel is vitamin E enriched. This soothing aloe gel will rehydrate your sun-baked skin and ease the pain of a burn and help prevent peeling. Keep it refrigerated for bonus relief.”
Crystal Crush Lip Balm // $5
Lip Balm with SPF: I know that there is a lot of lip balms out there to choose from but I Prefer the crystal crush lip balm! It’s hydrating and moisturizing. It smells amazing and most of all, protects my lips out in the sun.
Almond Milk & Honey Soothing & Restoring Body Butter // $6-$21
Moisturizing Body Lotion: I don’t know about you but, I deal with dry and itchy skin during the summer. With that being said, I highly recommend the milk and honey body butter. It seriously makes your skin feel like a baby bottom shortly after applying it. If you deal with dry skin as I do in the summer, you’re going to love this!!
Neutrogena Hydro boost // $17
Face Moisturizer: Every woman needs a good face moisturizer throughout all seasons! I personally love the Neutrogena hydro boost and have not had any bad experiences. If anything, it has benefited my skin in many ways! Above any other skincare product that I have, this has been my #1. I believe they have several kinds of the same product but TARGETS certain skin types so that it’s user-friendly for all! I know it’s on the pricier side, but I wouldn’t recommend it if it hasn’t worked wonders on my skin.
“This fast-absorbing Neutrogena Hydro Boost Whipped Body Balm with hyaluronic acid by instantly boosts the skin’s hydration and locks it in. Luxurious, intense hydration for dry to extra-dry skin.”
Australian Gold Botanical SPF 50 Tinted Face Lotion // $13
Tinted Face Lotion with SPF: I love how I came across this product while browsing at my local ULTA store. This face tinted lotion is perfect for those long days out in the heat! Just this lotion alone replaces any good foundation out there when you’re trying to stick with something light-weight. Most of all, I really am obsessing over the fact my skin feels healthy after-hours of being out in the heat.
Not Your Mothers Matcha Green Tea & Wild Apple Blossom Nutrient Rich Butter Masque // $9
Hair Mask: I love a good hair mask treatment! A little bit of this product goes a long way. I leave the hair mask on for about 5-10 minutes in the shower to achieve the best silky/smooth results.
“A detoxifying blend of Matcha Green Tea & Wild Apple Blossom enriches hair and scalp with antioxidants & nutrients for a deep clean. Nutrient-Rich Butter Masque deeply conditions and aids in restoring damaged strands, preparing hair for a purified, fresh style.”
Not your mother’s Clean Freak Tapioca Dry Shampoo // $6
Dry Shampoo: An every woman’s necessity in their hair care routine. My hair is really oily in the spring and summertime. With that being said, dry shampoo really comes in handy for those days my hair needs a pick-me-up.
“Made with gentle tapioca starch this salon formula dry shampoo will get rid of those unwanted shiny areas and add body to a lackluster look. With a soothing warm sugar fragrance, you and your hair can kick back and relax. This finished product is only tested on our human staff, never on animals. Ingredient Highlights: Tapioca is a natural, talc-free oil-absorbing powder”
Maui Lightweight Hydration + Hibiscus Water Shampoo & Conditioner // $9 each
Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner: I love shampoo and conditioners that leave a tropical aroma from my hair. With my color-treated hair, this product truly makes a difference in hydrating and nourishing my hair. Leaving my hair feeling silky smooth and rich!
“A unique blend with aloe vera juice and is infused with pure coconut water. The results? Moisturized strands, mended split ends and a healthy glow with every use. Creamy shea butter is whipped into this hydrating shampoo blend along with rich coconut and macadamia oils to help deeply quench and soften strands to get hair back to looking healthy.”
Not your mother’s Blue Sea Kale & Pure Coconut Water Sea Minerals Weightless Mousse // $9
Hairstyling product: In the summertime, I love hair styling products that will help tame hair frizz from all the heat and humidity. For my straight hair, I crunch my wet/damp hair after a shower with this styling product to accomplish that beach wave we all love. I use this on my daughter’s naturally curly hair as well. It tightens up her curls and gives it the perfect bounce and volume it needs. I find that this Mousse down below is absolutely breathtaking after the first use! Definitely not exaggerating, this is the real deal for those looking to tame the frizz+add shine+give your hair all the nutrients that it needs!
“Sea Minerals Weightless Mousse offers a touchable flexible hold, controls frizz & adds shine, preparing hair for a revitalized, vigorous style.”
