If you are a beauty lover like myself, you definitely understand the end-goal of every makeup look-to have a flawless and smooth like finish! It took me years and I mean YEARS to pull off my flawless makeup look. I went through dozens of products that left my face splotchy, uneven, and did not work with my skin type. Let’s just say, I now have my go-to beauty product and routine that works! FINALLY. If you want a FLAWLESS “filter-like” makeup look, check out my tips and products down below of what I use today!
What I use to achieve a flawless, filter-like makeup look!
1. Start with your skincare routine // I always start with a good skincare routine. If your skin has dry areas, it’s in your best interest before applying any makeup on your bare skin to exfoliate first and then go in with a good moisturizer. This will allow all of your products that you are applying to your face to blend in seamlessly without creating splotchy areas.
2. Milk hydro GRIP primer // This primer is literally EVERYTHING. It has extracts that hydrate the skin (this replaces my moisturizer step in my skincare routine) and it has one important ingredient that makes my makeup last all day which is the blue agave extract. After applying the primer I allow the formula one minute to fully absorb. Another good alternative primer that you should try (drugstore) is the Marshmellow Smoothing Primer.
3. Maybelline translucent powder // A poweder that is lightweight and feels silky on the skin. It combats shine, minimizes pores, and leaves skin looking velvety and smooth. I feel this powder really makes my skin look smooth by the naked eye!
4. ELF Camouflage concealer // I have dark circles and this is the best thick concealer I own that blends in well and creates a thick layer in my discoloration areas. I always add my Maybelline powder over my concealer. This is the best concealer I could ever recommend you that is not only affordable but is the best for covering up any discoloration you may have!
5. Pick your preferred medium-full coverage foundation // preferably a buildable foundation. My drugstore favorite is the L’Oréal infallible 24-hour fresh wear and my non-drugstore favorite is IL MAKIAGE “Woke Up Like This” flawless foundation. I have already given you my thoughts about the infallible foundation but this time, I want to talk about the hype on the IL MAKIAGE foundations. Definitely worth the hype and I honestly feel like it gives off a flawless and smooth finish!!
Pro Tips!
1. Blend with a DAMP beauty sponge. I recommend the ELF beauty (latex-free) and camp concealer sponge. Both affordable and work beautifully on blending in your makeup.
2. Don’t ever start applying your makeup without doing your skincare. It really does make a huge difference in the way your makeup applies.
3. Blend Blend Blend. Make sure everything looks blended and there are no uneven areas or patches.
